Jarrad + Katy | Woodlands Estate Wedding
Spring 2018
I’ve known Katy for a while, and when I told her we were starting Love Club Hire, she was so excited for us and keen to get us involved in her wedding which was super cool!
Picking a venue that was pretty close to home, with plenty of support in the wedding planning side of things made for a stress-free and easy-(er!) planning process!
They used our festoons to create the most romantic setting for their wedding plus some other little bits of decor. Check out their magical day!
Tell us about the proposal...
Totally a surprise for me! Jarrad had picked out the ring and even popped round to my parents to get my dad’s approval without me having a clue. He brought the ring down for our road trip around the South Island and proposed at a beautiful spot in Queenstown.
Our love story began...
At a Mexican restaurant for a dinner organised by a mutual friend. I didn’t know anyone else there apart from my friend and was lucky to sit next to Jarrad. We had some really great chat and he got in touch after that to organise a first date.
Where did you find your inspiration for your wedding day?
Pinterest was an amazing source of inspiration! I changed my mind a lot with how I wanted the décor to be in the first six months of planning. The colours for the bridesmaids dresses were selected with the girls and the rust orange colour formed the base of our floral décor and bouquets. With so much inspiration around, I decided to focus on some central elements and go from there – lighting, lace, rosemary and gypsophila (grown in my home garden). We wanted the day to be relaxed and fun for our guests, so entertainment, great food and beverages were key for us on the day.
What were the highlights on the day?
We had some amazing music – Adam and Naomi playing acoustic music during our ceremony and while we were taking photos, and an awesome band for later in the night. The ceremony was a highlight for us as a couple and a family and the rest of the day was so amazing to see all our family and friends, relax and enjoy!
Do you have any tips for other brides & grooms?
Stay relaxed and enjoy the process. If you have time on your side and want to keep costs down, go ahead with some DIY. Otherwise choose a venue that can do a lot for you.Work out together what is important to you as a couple and don’t stress too much on the details. Take time to savour in the days after and reflect on the day as a couple – all too soon it will be back to daily life!
We saved on...
We got a really great deal for our music, and both the acoustic duo and band were outstanding! We also saved on photography, as having our wedding on a Friday we were able to get a 4h photography package, which was half the price. We got some amazing photos and had people close to us to take photos of myself getting ready and photos of guests during the afternoon. My mother in law also did our florals.
